About
Intro & Background
My name is Luke Daughtry. By day, I am a software engineer, but I have always enjoyed a creative outlet, typically in the form of games. As a kid, I crafted my first board game, a Star Wars: The Clone Wars version of Monopoly (my parents still have it!). Additionally, my brother and I would set up army men, Lego Clone Troopers, and all sorts of figures and terrain across our rooms, creating games and making new rules with them every time.
I have always enjoyed playing games, but I eventually found that making games was a perfect fit. Building games became a hobby of mine, but watching people enjoy them was the real fun part. I felt that seeing people come together and have a good time while playing my game was more rewarding than the game itself.
Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
Throughout the years of Standoff’s development, I have received nothing but support from my family and friends. First, I want to thank my wife, Hope, for her incredible support. She has always cared about me and has been willing to listen to my ideas and questions even though game development isn’t her “cup of tea”.
Second, my brother, Zack, and two of my best friends, Caleb and Cade, have contributed beyond words to the game’s development. They have spent countless hours playtesting the game and discussing ideas, mechanics, etc. You name it, we talked about it.
Lastly, my parents, Jay and Jenn, have always taken an interest in the things I enjoy and care about and make an effort to be a part of that.
What's Important
I have found that I could use my interest in making games for many things beyond just Standoff. I began organizing and running large scale activities for my church’s Young Adult group, including annual Amazing Races for over 50 people, taking teams all across our area. When an opportunity presents itself, I want to be ready to serve, honor the Lord, and give back to such an amazing community.
As a Christian, I want to use my skills for the Lord, in any way possible. My relationship with God is the most important priority in my life. I will forever be thankful to Jesus Christ for what He did on the cross and what He has done in my life. Jesus has changed my life, bringing forgiveness of my sins and true fulfillment that is only found in Him. Anyone who believes on Him can live in joy and peace and have their relationship with God restored if they but repent of their sins and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I pray that those reading this may also encounter Jesus Christ.
Enter the Box Games
There’s some history to the “Enter the Box Games” title. It began with a business project in high school. Caleb (I mentioned him before) and I presented a virtual reality business similar to The Void. Inspired by this immersive VR world and my favorite episodes from SW: TCW, we named our business “Enter the Box”.
In the year following high school I would then take my enjoyment of Legos to YouTube, where I posted Lego stop-motion videos under the channel name “Enter the Box Studios” (Yes, it is still up and my most viewed video has over 400 views).
When it came to producing Standoff, “Enter the Box Games” just felt natural.
